What symptoms might suggest that you could benefit from outpatient treatment?

We could all benefit from a non-judgmental person who will listen to us, collaborate and empower us to make changes in our lives. But we also know when we are just not feeling right. We might be feeling very tired, eating more or less than normal, having difficulty concentrating, feeling irritable, or just going through changes in our lives that we want to talk with someone about. That’s where outpatient services come into play. In addition to Master’s Level clinicians, we also have Licensed Clinicians. We can help you get back into the swing of life!

Do we work with children and adolescents?

We have trained and qualified clinicians who specialize their work with children and adolescents. We provide play therapy, which is a form of treatment that utilizes the language of play to help children express their troubles when they cannot say their thoughts and feelings with words. Play therapy is a less threatening way for children to be taught coping skills and find creative solutions. Play therapy encourages children to change the way they think, feel and behave in many situations in their lives. Play therapy has been used successfully with children whose problems include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Conduct Disorder
  • Divorce
  • Foster care placements
  • Death and other grief issues
  • Physical/Sexual Abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • And much more

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

We also offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which is an evidenced-based behavioral therapy designed specifically for children ages 2-7 with emotional and behavioral disorders. PCIT is specifically designed for children with disruptive behaviors such as: refusing to listen to adults, multiple and severe temper tantrums, starting fights with others, inability to play alone, engaging in power struggles, disruption in daycare, school or home settings, and constantly seeking attention.

PCIT has two main goals for treatment: to enhance a positive relationship between caregiver and child; and to promote effective behavior management and discipline techniques. Families who participate in PCIT, attend weekly sessions for approximately 12-20 weeks.

Symptoms & Warning Signs

We also have skilled and confidential therapists who enjoy working with adolescents with a variety of issues. Although teenagers can benefit from play therapy, sometimes, they just need a place they can talk about the many stresses of being a teen. It’s difficult to know for sure when your adolescent or child is troubled. Here are a few warning signs to watch for:

  • Trouble sleeping and eating (or a change in their normal behaviors)
  • Headaches and other physical complaints
  • Loss of interest in activities and relationships
  • Decreased performance in schoolwork or attendance
  • Aggressive, destructive, and/or reckless behavior
  • Suicidal discussions or action
  • Not following the rules

Our clinicians are also knowledgeable in parenting strategies and suggestions and encourage families to play a vital role in their child’s counseling. Our findings suggest that children and adolescents improve when the family is involved in their treatment. Sometimes caring for these individuals can be stressful and overwhelming as well. Our therapists can assist parents who need a place to talk as well. You are more helpful to others when you care for yourself first!

If your child or adolescent needs counseling, we can help. We also provide school-based outpatient therapy at select schools. Feel free to ask us about this option.
